Time for CCP to Step It Up

Just prior to the beginning of the final round of voting for CSM8, CCP Dolan declared that there would be some extra special get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts put in by CCP this year to boost turnout. CCP Fozzie, too, has frequently said that they deliberately held their powder during the first round of voting so they could concentrate on creating buzz for the main vote. So far, I'm not seeing it...

This is the big GOTV effort thus far, a nondescript splash screen. Not much effort went into this; it's a recycled, re-colored graphic from a previous promotion, which makes people even less likely to look at it. Since it wasn't originally designed as a CSM-related graphic, it's no surprise that it isn't very relevant to the subject matter. Nor is it appropriate. Look at the people in that picture. Do any of them look excited to vote? Do they look excited about doing anything, even drawing another breath?

It even has that "EVE related promotion will only display once" thing, because apparently we wouldn't want to give potential voters a daily reminder to vote. (In a scintilla of fairness, I have seen the promotion appear twice.)

CCP, I am asking you to please step up your game, to come up with something new and interesting to help get people to vote. How about entering voters in a raffle for gank Taloses or the ability to make Concord perform a one-time attack on an ice field or something?

As long as we're engaged in real talk, here's a quick view of the loading screen through the Eyes of the Saviour:

CCP, help us GOTV! (If you're an EVE player and you have not yet voted, please see this link for instructions on how and for whom to vote.)

  1. my local government reminds me to vote more often than CCP does, I have never voted in local elections, and yet I have always voted in CSM elections: it is thus shown that the amount of campaigning is inversely proportional to the likelihood of voting.

    1. Hohoho, you mean it actually shows I won't let you vote until you turn 18, but CCP don't care!

  2. Do you really want votes from people who aren't paying attention ?

  3. no, they dont look excited to vote. and such a depressing shade of dark red they used.
the login screen is also terrible. the rendition maps were pretty decent, i checked that one out, but lots of the stories i have about the last decade in eve sure wouldnt sell any subscriptions.
and that 30k online isnt a sign of any decline (to me) during midday in the USA when its evening/night the pop is always 50k. inversely when europe and asia are all sleeping, or server has just come back up after downtime it might look that way.

    1. Haha, they look more like they're waiting to be executed. Or maybe they just received news that Fanfest was canceled.

  4. Thanks for working hard to get the vote out, James.

I'm beginning to think it was destiny that led you to stay here instead of continuing with your candidacy. Perhaps, through your sacrifice, the day will come where you will not only reign as Saviour of High Sec, but see yourself anointed as Redeemer of Electoral Justice. The New Order indeed has much to be proud of.

  5. What's the point of agitating ignorant voters to vote? You just add noise to the election results. At least in democracy the ruling formula is based on "will of the people", so more voters (even if ignorant as a pet rock) help to bolster the legitimacy of the regime. But this is obviously not the case here. CCP owns the domain, which is a game. For both of these reasons there cannot be democratic "self-rule".

The only point of voting for CSM, it seems to me, is to attempt to have a positive influence on CCP. How would electing Fon Revedhort via ignorants' votes serve that end?

  6. I wanted to vote for Fon Revendhort or James. But CCP SUCKS

  7. It feels pretty hypocritical to me that you're pushing people and CCP to make the effort to vote but you pulled out yourself just before applications closed. If you cared so much about it you should have followed through with your promises.

    1. Did he say he will not vote? Like you said, he's pushing people to VOTE. He withdrew his candidacy. Come on...

    2. Do you want a candidate who has reservations about running?

Since James315 had reservations about running, he did the correct thing, and didn't run.

  11. Count me as someone who as no desire to play Dust. If it were on the PC I would have given it a try if I were in a corp of people gave a crap about it. But I know one guy who plays it, occasionally, when he isn't doing something fun.

  12. CCP Fozzie was spamming in jita along with the scammers and market bots getting people to vote.

At least that's what I think he was doing it was hard to tell with the usual jita spam.

Hopefully he broadcast the entire message to all systems at the same time.
