Kills of the Week: Super Uedama Edition, Part 2

Previously, on MinerBumping... A lot of ships got blown up during the week.

It was a very, very bad week for Code-violating freighter pilots.

Wheldrake could have gone for a full-tank fit on her freighter, but she was tempted to spent a slot on herself. If you're flying a freighter without a mining permit, those little indulgences can kill.

Among the cargo: Over four and a half billion isk worth of logistics ships. These might have been intended for use in preventing ganks. We don't know. Wheldrake never asked us for permission to haul them through our territory.

Ouch! Maalox163 probably got a nasty feeling in his stomach once he realized his jump freighter was converted into a 12.1 billion isk killmail. He went for a full anti-tank fit. Why not? CCP has nerfed suicide ganking to the point where highsec is 100% safe, right? Not yet, pal.

Another milestone has been reached! The New Order is now powerful enough to gank even fully-tanked jump freighters. As seen on the killmail, Yuki Nagashima's Rhea took over 448,000 raw damage points. About a dozen Taloses were sacrificed for this kill, among other gank ships.

Another jump freighter down. Salander Raholan, too, opted for a full tank fit but was still destroyed. This particular killmail caused a bit of a stir when it was circulated. The Ark was carrying less than 20 million isk worth of cargo. Our Agents knew this, but they killed it anyway. For the first time, skeptics realized how serious the New Order is about its Code.

Speaking of commitment to the Code, freighter pilot texas tornado79 purchased a mining permit from Agent DJentropy Ovaert. He didn't want to potentially lose a multi-billion isk ship for want of a 10 million isk permit. However...

texas tornado79 was caught AFK autopiloting a freighter through Uedama. He was found guilty of violating the Code and instantly had his permit revoked. The New Order is not a bunch of thieves, pirates, and extortionists. We follow a Code. You can't pay us off for 10 million isk. Would someone be forgiven for blowing up a school bus full of children if he gave a few bucks to charity?

texas was furious when he returned to his keyboard and discovered what was happening. He thought he'd put one over on the New Order. He was dead wrong.

Like many freighter pilots, texas believed it's CCP's responsibility to keep highsec 100% safe. If he files a petition, he'll be in good company.

In truth, the carebear never intended to follow the Code. He hated the Code. What set him apart is that he was able to do a tiny bit of math and come to the conclusion that it was suicidal not to buy a permit. His true colors were revealed after the gank.

Despite the most recent nerf to freighter ganking, the carebears are demanding CCP nerf freighter ganking again. The threadnought started in response to New Order attacks is nearing 100 pages on EVE-O. Carebears know it's too easy to kill freighters, because freighters are dying. If freighters stop dying then they'll stop begging for a nerf--though they'll demand some other form of highsec aggression be nerfed.

Nor is Agent DJentropy Ovaert's. I feel nothing but compassion for the GMs whose job it is to deal with so many frivolous complaints.

In all, 40 freighters and 3 jump freighters were terminated during the week covered by the Kills of the Week post. Adding kills from the last two days, the number rises to 59 freighters and 4 jump freighters.

To put the slaughter into perspective, consider the first Burn Jita event in 2012. The combined forces of the CFC and HBC, somewhere around 40,000 characters, were called upon to participate. Thousands showed up, including many players in leadership positions. It was publicized throughout EVE, and CCP was forced to add a warning to the splash screen for everyone logging into the game. Burn Jita was covered by video game media, not just EVE media. During Burn Jita, 53 freighters and 12 jump freighters were killed. That's more isk damage than was inflicted by the New Order's activities in Uedama--but actually not that far off. Our gankers are becoming remarkably efficient killing machines.
